I don't know about you, but this is the one, right?

http://www.moddb.com/mods/kanes-wrath-mod-sdk

The question now is, will our mod leader & his team reconsider to shift everything towards the KW SDK? Or stick it to the safe side EA-released TW SDK?

It's not done yet, but if it is completed then... we could be the biggest, best, and only KW mod
but right now, we plan to do this on TW

Hi, I'm kinda new to modding but wants to help. I used to make maps for Red Alert 1 for personal use but that's a long time ago. Anyway, I know how to use Blender 3D for modeling and Photoshop for textures. Point me to the right way and I have couple of months to spare and help out.

Hi, looking for a musician?

My name's Pete. If you want to hear samples of my music you can check at portfolio.otherworldaudio.com.

I think it'd be great to be a part of the fans' final salute to Command and Conquer. Let me know if you're interested.

google and get 3ds max 9, there should be a way to crack it so you can get it for free, also, look up some tutorials so that you know how

also, yes, we could use a musician

What final output format do you need? Blender 3d could export .obj models as well a wide array of other 3D formats.

I remember valid texture files can be done is when the texture is in TGA (Targa) format. That's what I used when I used the Windows NT-interfaced and un-user-friendly Lightwave. So far, I remember some of the basic skills of texturing, except that I can't put them back together again due to my very rusty skills, it's been, emm, like about at least 3 or 4 years I haven't been doing any 3D since it's not my specialty. I don't say "No, I don't do texturing", it's just that I'm not sure if I can do that.

What final output format do you need? Blender 3d could export .obj models as well a wide array of other 3D formats.

The final output needed is .w3x, which is supplied by EA via the SDK installer and only for Max9. Blender CAN be used in the pipeline as an intermediary, and can be saved as a .obj preferably (other formats especially .3ds will break the model at the UV seams), and the UVs will be transferred over.

However, 3ds max 9 is needed because that is where DirectX shaders are applied (which WILL make the unit look different and thus may warrant texture changes), and where the models are rigged to be correctly interacted with in game. So, here is a breakdown of the software that can be used for any specific job in the art pipeline

-Modeling: any 3d package that can export as .obj or .fbx
-Unwrapping: any 3d package that can export as .obj or .fbx and can save UV templates to an image
-Texturing: Actual texture maps can be created with any image editing software, BUT it's a good idea to use Photoshop with nVidia's Normal map filter plugin for the normals map, since that is what EA used, and settings are easily documented. You can also use Crazybump, or xNormal to create the normal map from a height-field map. Texture maps are 24bit or 32bit for an alpha channel .tgas
-Shaders: Must be applied using Max versions 7-9 with the 3ds max plugins from the SDK. I've seen that 2008 occasionally works, but that's not a guarantee.
-Rigging: Must be done using Max 7-9 with plugins from SDK
-Animation: Must be done using Max 7-9....theoretically, somethings you can get away with in another package, but your rig can't carry over, which may mean that CnC3 won't be able to interpret your animations and apply them properly.

Hope that helps.

I run that project for C&C 3 if you need to see what I have done so far.

If you're up for the modeling, here we use 3DsMax. There is also a texturing lesson which I wonder you're interested. Here's one provided by C7.

Google will be your friend, buddy. Wink

Anyway, I don't mind helping you out, here's the link to the official site & download of 3DsMax (Yes, it's an Autodesk product).

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?siteID=123112&id=13571450

Take note that it is a trial version, so you're going to need to find a way to crack it to full version. This mod project is going to take a long time, not to mention we got lots of crappy looking C&C4 units need remodeling, the first project given to another modeler is the Scorpion Tank. Naraku here can explain more if you're up for the task.

Good luck, and hope you have fun too. Wink

Don't sweat it, we're not in a rush. But just be sure don't get into Starcraft 2 too much when released. Wink Hopefully we will show them that this mod can start with a bang.

Concept artist, could you make me a concept of the "Ravager"? it is essentially a larger version of the venom equipped with a flame turret. The ravager is a low-flying large helicopter with a flame turret on the bottom and anti-air missiles on the top.
